About SWG-MCMD

The Spanish Working Group on Multicriteria Decision (SWG-MCMD) was established in Madrid in November 1997 with a clearly multidisciplinary vocation, bringing together the entire Spanish Multicriteria Decision Making scene.

The SWG-MCMD has two fundamental functions. On the one hand, to coordinate the tasks of the different nodes and to promote collaborative relationships between them. On the other hand, to make our research activity known, both to potential users of multi-criteria methodologies and to potential new members of the group.

It is worth mentioning the participation in the group of prestigious research teams in different research lines within the multicriteria decision-making, both in the continuous (metaheuristics, multiobjective optimization, goal programming...) and discrete (AHP, MAUT, outranking methods...) fields, both theoretical and applied (environmental evaluation and selection, valuation, finance, logistics, energy, engineering...). These groups are enriched and updated under a joint action that favors the contact between them, so that each one can contribute its vision on the topics addressed by the others.

SWG-MCMD is composed of about 248 researchers belonging to very diverse knowledge areas (Statistics and Operations Research, Applied Economics, Quantitative Methods for Economics and Business, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, Project Engineering, Business Organization, Agricultural Economics, etc.) from 32 Spanish Universities (plus the University of Lisbon and the Regional University of Blumenau) and Research Centers.

Currently, the Spanish Group is structured in 30 nodes that have been formed according to criteria of both geographical proximity and coincidence in the specific research lines.
